Air Duct Services: Thorough Inspection, Cleaning, and Sealing in Berthoud & Northern Colorado

In dry areas like Northern Colorado, dust and debris accumulate rapidly in air ducts. Pet dander, allergens, pests, and residue from wildfire smoke all get trapped inside, lowering air quality and forcing your HVAC system to work harder. Worse, high winds can break the duct's seals and let even more particles in.

That's why we offer duct inspection, cleaning, and sealing for Northern Colorado homes – it's essential maintenance that improves your home's air quality and gives the HVAC system a longer lease on life.

Certified HVAC Professionals

Air Duct Maintenance

Air Duct Inspection

Our technicians carefully go through your air ducts to identify issues such as debris buildup, blockages, leaks, and general wear and tear. Between a thorough visual inspection and air pressure test, we isolate the problem and recommend next steps.

Air Duct Cleaning

If dust, mold, or even trapped pests are causing your airflow problems, we quote a professional cleaning. Some systems only require spot cleaning, while others need a deep, thorough job. We use professional-grade HEPA vacuums and NADCA recommended agitation tools to remove that debris and restore healthy airflow.

Air Duct Sealing

High winds, drastic temperature changes, and age can strain the duct's joints and cause leaks. To close those leaks, our technicians apply duct mastic or specialized sealants. After the job's done, we perform a pressure test to ensure that the new seal is airtight.

FAQs

When do my ducts need inspection?

Typical signs include dusty vents, musty odors, uneven cooling room to room, strange noises, short cycling, and increased allergy symptoms. We inspect your ducts thoroughly to confirm whether they need cleaning, sealing, or other steps forward.

How often do my ducts need cleaning?

In Northern Colorado, ducts should generally be cleaned every two to three years. The dry environment causes more dust than other parts of the country, and wildfire smoke can bypass filters. Flexible ductwork requires more frequent attention than duct board or sheet metal, as its texture traps debris easily.

Can I clean my ducts with DIY methods?

Consumer-grade vacuums tend to disturb the debris without actually removing it, so DIY attempts can actually make your air quality worse. That's why A Plus Heating & Air uses professional grade HEPA equipment for cleanings.

Can I seal my ducts with DIY methods?

Technically, yes – but finding every leak in the first place is the hard part and generally requires a professional inspection and air pressure test. Leaks often hide in the walls, ceilings, attics, and crawl spaces.

Actually sealing leaks yourself is possible, but it requires proper surface preparation and  professional grade duct mastic and sealants. (Despite its name, duct tape degrades quickly and is not a good choice for sealing leaks long term.) If you call for an inspection, we’ll recommend a long-term solution tailored for your home or business.

Can I change the filter instead of cleaning or sealing the ducts?

Filters are indeed an essential part of your HVAC system because they catch airborne particles. However, filters don't stop dust and debris from slowly accumulating within the ductwork. Filters also don't address leaks, which continually allow larger particles in. We'll always inspect your ducts thoroughly and recommend the best, most cost effective solution.
